Great questions always require thoughtful
and wise response. You cannot really know
what you have gotten in life until you are
given assurance to live.
What a question, great question for that
matter, “…Lord, are there few that be saved?”
That was a question thrown at Jesus in
Jerusalem. Human beings always look for
ways of redemption but are not ready to
obey the terms and conditions associated with
redemption, what an awful experience?
The above question was followed up with a
thoughtful and wisdom-based response from
Jesus;
“Strive to enter in at the strait gate:
for many, I say unto you, will seek to
enter in, and shall not be able.” Luke
13:24.
Our redemption and deliverance are within us
and it cannot come to us on it will, we must
seek for it with all our heart before we can
obtain it.
Many are looking for a place where they can
be save without knowing that the preparation
of their heart is the most essential required
of them by the Lord Jesus, when your heart
is right with God, your salvation is sure. We
cannot pure new wine into an old bottle until
that bottle is made ready and cleansed. The
choice is yours.
Jesus, the redeemer of our soul came to save
that which was lost, his primary purpose was to
save sinners and reconcile man to God, his birth
was to give light to the world, still, we have part
to play. Our salvation is not automatic, our ego
and pride must be dealt with and our self must be
denied if we must be saved.
“And he said unto them all, if any man will came
after me, let him d eny himself, and take up his
cross daily, and follow me. For whosoever will
save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will
lose his life for my sake, the same shall save
it.” Luke 9:23-24.
Sin is a reproach and it is a deadly disease
that its cure is only in Jesus Christ, he came
to heal us from all our sins and deliver us
from condemnation, he took our place on the
cross and died for our sins.
Let’s read;
Isaiah 55:5 But he was wounded for
our transgressions, he was bruised for
our iniquities: the chastisement of our
peace was upon him; and with his
strives we are healed.
Romans 5:6-8; For when we were yet
without strength, in due time Christ
died for the ungodly. For scarcely for
righteous man will one die: yet
peradventure for a good man some
would even dare to die. But God
commandeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died
for us.
John 1:12; But as many as received him,
to them gave he power to become the
sons of God, even to them that believe
on his name.
From the above scriptural passages, we
understand that Christ suffered for us to
save us from sins, all we need to do is to
receive him into our heart so as to become
sons of God, thereby being among the those
that be saved.
The first thing a sinner must do is to
acknowledge his sinful nature and come to
Jesus for total repentance from all sin.
“Repent ye therefore, and be
converted, that your sins may be
blotted out, when the times of
refreshing shall come from the
presence of the Lord.” Acts 3:19
