DO YOU KNOW YOU ARE A LIGHT?

Beore I start, I will like to define light as a
source of energy that makes things visible. It
disperses darkness.
“You are a light”, Jesus, teaching on the mount, he
told the multitude; “Ye are the light of the world. A
city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden” Matthew
5:14.
You become light immediately you accept
Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior. You
are saved to radiate your environment.
Servants of Christ shine with His light in a
society that is hopelessly lost, left to itself.
Now answer this question; What is the basic
function of light?
To provide answer to this question, is simple,
light is to dispel darkness. Darkness cannot
remain where there is light. Nothing can
hinder the light from shining, Jesus said; “… a
city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.”
Problems cannot hide you, family cannot hide
you. Darkness cannot remain when the light is
turned on. As a light, you are a problem
solver, no matter the magnitude of the
problem or challenge.
Think of some distinctive characteristics of
light:
Light gives direction
Light attracts attention. You don’t need to ask
other people to look at you when you turn on
a light in a dark place or room.
Light is silent. No noise, no big splash.
Light simply shines.
A single light gives direction in a large place.
Light is never afraid to shine in the midst of
darkness, it simply shines.
If you are a true Christian, then, you cannot
be afraid to shine in the midst of challenges,
because, you are a light. They may try to
hinder you from shining, but they cannot
succeed because “greater is he that is in you
then he that is in the world” 1John 4:4.
You are silent, no noise in the midst of
challenges. You cannot be heard when you
are in a place, but, you are a problem melter.
Your presences melt any kind of problem or
challenges down.
Another unique characteristics of a light is
that, it can never be afraid anywhere.
Light is bold when shining in that darkness.
You cannot be intimidated from shining and
the Scripture puts it this way; “And the light
shineth in darkness; and the darkness
comprehended it not” John 1: 5. You cannot
be hidden but simply shine.
Go and shine to your environ, provide solution
to the problems that may be affecting people
around you. You are unique and distinctive.
Go and shine on.
